**UPDATE – We encountered some technical issues with the release of the units for 24/25 but this has now been resolved**
The new curricular units for 2024/25 will be available on Brightspace to staff from Thursday 4th July.
Students will have access to units for Semester 1/2/3 one week prior to the start of Semester 1, for the majority of programmes this will be Monday 9th September.
What’s new for 24/25?
We know staff like using the HTML content templates on Brightspace to collate weekly learning materials into one place for students, in an easily digestible format. In response to your feedback, we’ve created two new HTML template layouts in the Two Tab and Three Tab format. These templates contain structured layouts with suggested activities, that you can simply edit and update with your own content. Keep or remove elements as required to provide a consistent experience for students and give your units a professional feel.
In response to student feedback we’ve standardised to a single coursework brief template, to be used across all faculties, to improve the clarity of assessments for students. As part of this process, you’ll notice more detailed information shared in the default Assessment module on units. This area now contains the key help and support information for students in relation to their assessment, meaning the coursework brief now focuses on the particular requirements of each piece of coursework. Add the brief to your unit and populate the template with the coursework details, deleting other fields as appropriate. Guidance on how to add either of these elements is available on every unit under the ‘Staff Guide’ submodule, or you can watch our short gif below:

To help you prepare your units for the new academic year, we’ve pulled all our FLIE guidance into one place, providing you with a one-stop-shop resource. You’ll find the FLIE Summer Reset on the Brightspace Staff Resources area under the Preparing for 2024/25 button. And don’t forget to checkout the Showcase Celebration section where BU colleagues share some of the innovative practice they’ve been doing this year.
