Richard has provided disaster management consultancy, project management and training to
government ministries, national security forces, media, industry, emergency services and nongovernmental
organisations.

He has designed, coordinated and delivered disaster management projects in across the globe and
regularly provides disaster management training for international governments and organisations.

Richard is Director of Bournemouth University Disaster Management Centre (BUDMC) and has commented on natural disasters, including the Haiti and Nepal earthquakes, for the BBC and ITV Meridian, plus international media outlets.

In 1997 Richard was awarded an MBE for his work in the development of a UK capability in information projection during crises.
