Michele’s research interests are in the field of nursing older people and people with dementia.
As a qualitative researcher she looks to use creative approaches to collect and present research data. Her PhD explored the meaning of home using photo elicitation. She has worked with Alzheimer’s Research UK and Health Education England developing and evaluating dementia education resources, using virtual reality as a tool to enhance learning experience.
Recent work has included exploring the role of Advanced Clinical Practitioners working during Covid -19 in caring for older people. Working closely with clinical practice partners she has a number of match-funded PhD students exploring dementia, frailty, end of life care and older people service delivery.
Michele is Deputy Head of Department for the Department of Nursing Science at BU, overseeing CPD in the department, and is deputy lead for the Ageing and Dementia Research Centre.
Her media experience includes being interviewed on local radio about reminiscence therapy.
