Professor Thorsen is Executive Dean of the Faculty of Media & Communication at Bournemouth University. Einar’s research interests lie in how social media is used to disseminate news and the reporting of political events in the media. He also has a particular interest in citizen journalism, user-generated content, crisis journalism and whistleblowing in the press.
He is the Associate Director of the Centre for the Study of Journalism, Culture and Community and is on the Executive Committee of the Media, Communication and Cultural Studies Association (MeCCSA). His media experience includes being interviewed for broadcast and print on subjects such as Indian and UK elections, social media and islamophobia, and social media and politics.
