Described by one BBC journalist as ‘a man who watches Westminster’, Darren is particularly interested in political party and candidate communication, and the link to citizen and voter engagement.

In addition, Darren is Convenor of the Politics and Media Research Group within the Faculty of Media & Communication at Bournemouth University.

He has appeared on ITV News as an expert on perceptions of leaders and commented on various aspects of campaigning for local and national BBC News programmes and national newspapers.

Darren is often used by the media for his political commentary, such as his comments in this undercover Channel 4 investigation into Conservative party practices during the General Election.
