Miles has worked on archaeological projects across the UK, as well as in Germany, Sicily and Russia. He
is co-director of BU’s Archaeological Field School and also the Durotriges Project and REGNVM, both
investigating the transition from the Iron Age to Roman period in Southern Britain. He an expert in
all things Roman and Iron Age as well as being Director of the Imperial Image Database, investigating
Roman portraiture, and the Chalkland Prehistoric Project, examining the Neolithic monumental
architecture of the South Downs.
Miles is a regular contributor to television and radio, including recent appearances on Time Team,
Timewatch, Witness, The One Show and Digging for Britain. In addition, he writes for History Revealed
magazine, predominantly on Roman culture and society.
Miles is co-director of the Durotriges Big Dig, which runs annually in Winterbourne Kingston and has previously uncovered Roman burials and an Iron Age village, speaking to BBC and ITV television.
