This unit is running for 7 weeks and can be taken either as CPD or, via an assessment, as a 20 credit unit that builds towards either the PG Dip or MA in Education Practice. Details on the unit can be found here. If you would like to attend any of the future masterclasses as CPD, please contact OD.

20 members of staff attended the session last week and we had some very interesting discussions about the effective use of TEL. These discussions were rooted in learning theory as we asked how and where TEL can make a contribution to learning. We mapped TEL Tools to learning theories which for some tools was easy but for others was a more complicated mapping as some tools appeared to speak to more than one theory. In addition to these more established theories we also touched on connectivism which is modeled on learning in the digital age.
As a group, we are going to be working on developing a BU version of the pedagogic wheel which we aim to add to the TEL Toolkit once it is complete so that the list TEL tools can help staff to choose appropriate tools to assist their learning activities. Here is our embryonic wheel.
We will return to this in the coming weeks.
