Changes under the new organisational structure

Brightspace unit codes for 2025/26 units and past units will reflect the new organisation structure so you will see the new abbreviations in the unit code indicating the Faculty and School.

For example:

• Previous unit code: 96184_FMC_ANI_L5_2425
• New unit code: 96184_MST_NCA_L5_2425

Note that for past units, the numeric part of the code will not change, only the Department (School) and Faculty abbreviation will change. For further information view our Changes under the new organisational structure guide.

LTs are available throughout the summer and can be contacted via email for support with unit design and any Brightspace-related queries. Our mailboxes are not yet aligned to the new organisational structure, but they are all managed by our team so whichever you use, a member of the team will get back to you.

Key dates:

• Mon 4 August: 2025/26 curricular units available to staff on Brightspace.
• Tues 5 August: Programme Leaders are provided with access to their new 2025/26 units.
• Tue 19 Aug: Online registration opens, new students access Brightspace and their Arrivals Preparation information.
• Mon 15 Sept: Students have access to curricular units. New students have access to their programme area and continuing students are enrolled to their new level based groupings within programme areas.
• Mon 22 Sept: Welcome week.
• Mon 29 Sept: Start of Semester 1 teaching.
