As everyone takes a well-earned break over Christmas, just a reminder of the resources available to support you as you plan for Semester 2.
If you’re looking for ideas and inspiration, have a look at our Good Practice area. You’ll find good practice tips and examples on all areas of teaching and learning from FLIE and academic colleagues. You might also want to check out the showcase videos, created in line with the Digital Pedagogies Framework, which explore the use of technology in learning within the key themes of the Framework.
If you require general help and guidance on using Brightspace or any other digital tools, head to the Brightspace Staff Resources area. Here you’ll find step-by-step instructions on setting up and using tools, from the Academic Advisor reporting tool to Zoom. If you’re in the middle of marking, checkout the Assessment and Feedback section. And don’t forget, for general Brightspace guidance and the principles and pedagogical thinking that guide teaching at BU, we also have a series of Brightspace online training modules which also include useful short video guidance and are ideal if you have any new starters in your areas.
As well as using the Framework to focus on the design of your unit, you’ll need to think about some of the other key tasks to consider before teaching commences. You can find some useful tips in our Unit Preparation guidance. Your Faculty LT will be available at their usual faculty dropin from January and can support you with any Brightspace-related enquiries and be on hand to advise and guide you through your unit design. If you’d like to arrange a particular time with your LT, contact them via their faculty mailbox.
