As part of the varied elements of the Fusion Learning activity which are being progressed as one of the key deliverables of BU2025, we are pleased to announce the new Understanding Research Methods unit available through Brightspace.
Why was the unit developed?
The Understanding Research Methods unit has been developed as a result of feedback received from the Fusion Survey (March 2020) when academics highlighted that students needed additional support with their understanding of research methods. More recently, qualitative feedback from the NSS has also indicated students want more support for research methods.
What does the unit provide?

The Understanding Research Methods unit provides a useful additional resource for students to complement existing teaching, and to provide a range of perspectives on research methods. It includes content from BU staff, with modules available to support both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Each module concludes with a quiz, and successful completion of each quiz awards the student an associated online badge. There are 27 badges to be collected.
Where can I find it?
The Understanding Research Methods unit will be live on Brightspace from Monday 1st November. Find the unit by searching via the ‘waffle’.
