ALDinHE 2020: The Learning Development Conference

I’d like to introduce myself as the new co-chair of the Conference Working Group, and to invite you to submit a proposal for our 2020 conference in North Hampton.

ALDinHE 2020: The Learning Development Conference

University of Northampton

6th-8th April 2020

Join us in Northampton for three days of stimulating discussion and inspiring sessions!

This year we have three broad strands we encourage you to consider aligning with:

  • Advocacy for Learning Development
  • Creativity for change
  • Embracing diversity

The conference will offer plenty of CPD opportunities, including research development, CeP/CeLP guidance, opportunities to learn more about ALDinHE’s work and the chance to get involved with a working group.

The deadline for proposals is Monday 11th November 2019

This year, we particularly welcome creative and imaginative proposals which aim to make effective use of Northampton’s unique and innovative space. You may choose to submit a proposal for a:

  • 60-minute workshop
  • 20-minute paper presentation
  • 5-minute lightning talk
  • Poster
  • Resource swap shop
  • Expert practitioner mini-keynote
  • World Café discussion
  • Wild Card

Details may be found on the conference webpage.

Northampton has redesigned itself to focus on small-group teaching.  As such, we are introducing new initiatives for 2020:

  • Expert practitioner mini-keynote on Tuesday
  • World Discussion Café forum with discussion prompts around various LD themes
  • Wild Card – we invite colleagues to submit a weird and wonderful proposal for presentation!

We will once again be opening a fee waiver scheme for those whose institutions will not fund the cost of a conference place. These will be on an application-only basis. Further details will follow separately.

The ALDinHE conference is a supportive and welcoming environment that promotes creative collaboration between learning developers and is always popular, with a regular attendance of around 150 delegates from the UK and beyond.

We look forward to receiving your proposals.
