Debbie Holley, Professor of Learning Innovation, with her ERASMUS partners Dr Mike Hobbs (Anglia Ruskin University) and Prof Enrico Ciavolino (University of Salento), pictured left to right above, delivered a seminar to Doctoral andĀ MastersĀ students at the University of Salento, Lecce, Italy.
The students mapped their own digital footprints and individual communication channels. They analysed these through the lens of message, context and medium. A design based learning activity framed the use of Google Cardboard as a medium, which demonstrated the affordances of immersive panoramic photography.
They were then able to apply generic examples to their own highly specific culture requirements, and to see how this emergent technology could be used in a variety of research contexts. Over the coming weeks students will be experimenting with the cardboard viewers and reporting back with reflections on their work. We will be analysing their data maps and experiences as part of our ongoing collaboration with the University of Salento.
