Time to re-assess your digital skills for 2017-18

The first digital skills self assessment (DSSA) was launched in February 2016 and was completed by over 500 respondents.  The DSSA served a dual purpose; staff were able to assess their levels of confidence  against the technology enhanced learning (TEL) tools at use in BU and also against the wider range of digital skills that are needed in education; CEL was able to better understand the skills landscape and organise workshops and events to better support and develop staff.  The former has a personal benefit as it enables staff to understand their areas of expertise and also identify opportunities to develop confidence and new capabilities.  The latter has an institutional benefit as we improve digital skills across the faculties which translates to an improved student experience.

The report on the 2016-17 DSSA is available to BU staff at i:\CEL\Public\DSSA\16-17.  It is called DSSA review 16-17.  The report contains an analysis of the responses at institution, faculty and department level.  This is a figure from the report showing the levels of confidence, from 1 (not aware) to 6 (expert) in digital skills by faculty and department.

The DSSA has been updated for the new academic year, for example by including Brightspace amongst the TEL tools now available to us.

We would like to ask staff to complete the online questionnaire by the end of December 2017.  The questionnaire is anonymous but there is the opportunity to include your name should you wish to do so.  You can also use the form to tell CEL of your digital innovations and also request help and support.

The questionnaire takes about 10 minutes to complete.  It is available here: https://bournemouth.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/dssa-2017-18

Thank you in anticipation for completing the questionnaire.
