Library and Learning Support have developed a new Study Skills guide to enhance access to the extensive Study Skills Workshop Programme that we deliver to support students.
Linking to existing study skills guidance in myBU and Brightspace the guide makes choosing and booking a workshop even easier. It will be particularly useful for Programme Leaders and Academic Advisors to support Level 4 and Level 7 students who are struggling to transition to academic life or for those who simply want to develop their skills to university level.
In response to feedback from students and colleagues in faculties and in reviewing the Skills4Study learning analytics we have also introduced 2 new workshop titles for 17/18. Academic Writing Style and Reflective Writing. We are scheduled to run 58 Study Skills workshops in Semester 1.
Students can book onto a face-to-face workshop, or watch a video version of each session and work through the materials at their own pace.
Topics include:
- Literature searching
- Advanced literature searching
- Reading & notetaking
- Essay planning
- Reflective writing
- BU Harvard referencing
- Using EndNote for PC and Mac
- Presentation skills
- Time management
- Academic writing style
- Revision & exam techniques
If you have any feedback about the Study Skills workshop programme please email studyskills@bournemouth.ac.uk or get in touch with your Faculty Library Team.
The LLS Study Skills Workshop Programme compliments support delivered by colleagues in faculties, ALS, Careers and ITS. The guide also includes a link to the list of workshops that ALS deliver, which are open to all students.
