Update of BU’s Learning and Teaching Fellowships for 2017/18

Jacqui Taylor, Jonny Branney, Ann Luce and Laura Bunt-MacRury were awarded BU Learning and Teaching Fellowships for 2017/18. They have been engaging in activities and initiatives which support and develop student learning in a range of contexts.  The aims of the BU Learning and Teaching Fellowship Awards are to recognise and celebrate excellent achievement and/or innovation in the support of student learning through fusion, improve the quality of the student learning experience through the dissemination of good practice and promote a culture of scholarship and reflective practice.

Jonny Branney (FHSS) is focusing on Team-based Learning as a strategy for improving students’ learning and the student experience. He is undergoing training which involves being assessed on a number of intended learning outcomes over the next year with the support of a mentor from the University of Bradford.

Jacqui Taylor’s (FST) work aims to support students in understanding and becoming aware of the meaning of psychologically literate global citizenship and the activities will enhance student and staff engagement with principles covered in the Global Talent Award and the Global Engagement Plan. She is currently collecting data from a wide variety of participants (psychology and non-psychology students, 6th form, undergraduates and postgraduates).

Ann Luce (FMC) has been doing some exciting work around the USA election in 2016, which linked directly to BU students involvement in following and broadcasting about the events as they unfolded. She will be hosting a webinar with the World Journalism Education Conference ‘Social Media and Mobile Journalism Syndicate’ later this year.

Laura Bunt-MacRury (FMC) will be holding a writing spa for BU PGR students on Friday, June 23rd at BU’s Talbot campus. The daylong workshop consists of exercises that seek to support and enable you to write more effectively, creatively, and productively. The keynote speaker is renowned psychoanalyst Professor Bret Kahr. Attendance is free and any BU postgraduate student is welcomed to attend. Participants will receive an Amazon voucher, a writing gift-bag, and day pass to the Faculty of Media and Communication writers’ beach hut. Please contact lbuntmacrury@bournemouth.ac.uk
