Over 300 staff from Bournemouth and Poole College (BPC) spent the afternoon today on Talbot campus for their Teacher’s Conference. In addition to a keynote speech from educationalist and former HMI, Harriet Harper, over 100 staff opted to attend one of the three TEL workshops hosted by CEL.
The TEL workshops were entitled “Teaching using technology: the kick in the discovery” after the quote by Richard Feynman and covered the 6 pedagogies included in the TEL Toolkit, giving examples and hands-on experience of tools that can be used in each area.
BPC is already an advanced user of TEL as exemplified by the staff’s excellent knowledge of a wide range of TEL tools and the fact that a set number of hours of blended learning is a requirement in all of their modules.
The sessions were very lively with each one running over its allotted time. Mentimeter was a great hit in each of the sessions and it is likely that CEL’s link with BPC will continue with further exploration of some of the applicable pedagogies and tools in the future.
