The sigma Network for Excellence in Mathematics and Statistics Support is ending the year with a bang!

Four FREE events are being held up and down the country in the coming weeks, which should be of interest to people working in HE math and statistics support, or who have a general interest in the student-centred teaching and learning of mathematics and statistics and the development of students’ study skills.

  • Wednesday 1st June 2016: “Exploring different models of maths support in HE. Combatting maths anxiety.” Manchester Metropolitan University.

  • Wednesday 8th June 2016: “Technology enhanced learning for maths support.” University of Newcastle.

  • Friday 1st July 2016: “Statistics Support: ideas, resources and advice.” Royal Holloway, University of London.

  • Tuesday 12th July 2016: “Mathematical Literacy”.  University of Exeter.

Further details of these events, which are FREE to members of the HE maths support community, are available on our website:

Finally, the “biggest bang of them all” will be the CETL-MSOR Conference taking place in Loughborough from 6-7 September 2016. CETL-MSOR is an established conference for the dissemination of good practice and research findings in the teaching, learning, assessment and support of mathematics, statistics and operations research in HE. The call for papers and registration is now open, and members of the sigma Network look forward to seeing you there!
