Taking forward Recommendations to UKIPO on 3D Printing and IP

On 6 February 2017, Professor Dinusha Mendis participated in a 3D Printing (3DP) / Intellectual Property (IP) workshop titled ‘Rethinking IP in the Digital Manufacturing Age’. The workshop introduced a second UK Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO) project into 3DP and Intellectual Property (IP) led by Dr. Angela Daly of Queensland University of Technology, Australia.

Part of the event focused on taking forward the recommendations of the UKIPO Commissioned project into the IP implications of 3DP led by Professor Mendis, completed in 2015.

In this context, Professor Mendis, together with Dr. Phil Reeves of Stratasys Ltd (Co-Investigator) outlined the findings, conclusions and recommendations made to Government, Industry and Intermediaries as a result of their project.

The event was attended by policy makers, academics, practitioners, industry partners and media professionals.

Following the event, Professor Mendis was invited to act as a member for the project’s Steering Committee.
