Teacher Development Event: Teaching Copyright for Critical Perspectives

The Executive Business Centre and Ramada Encore Hotel is a 5-10 minute walk from Bournmeouth railway/coach station. The closest pay & display car parks are shown here (Cotlands Road being the most convenient).

Event Description

Media Education Association (MEA) members are invited to take part in a FREE teacher development event at Bournemouth University, where the participants will be provided with the following, upon registration and attendance:

  • Evening meal with the Copyrightuser.org team on 7th July 2016
  • Overnight stay at Ramada Encore on 7th July 2016
  • A one day course on how to use the Copyrightuser.org educational resources for students undertaking the OCR unit or other topics in A Level Media* on 8th July 2016
  • Refreshments (including lunch) on 8th July 2016
  • Access to an online course running in two stages – September and October 2016  (working with the resources in the classroom).

All of the above is free; those attending need only find funding for travel.

About Copyrightuser.org

Copyrightuser.org a collaboration between CIPPM Bournemouth University and CREATe, University of Glasgow, is an online resource which aims at making UK copyright law accessible to creators, users, teachers and students amongst others. A further aim of Copyrightuser.org is to inform creators and users about how to protect their work, how to license and exploit it, and how to legally re-use the work of others.

The resource uses both video and textual material together with a bottom-up methodology to explain the key concepts of copyright, in an accessible manner.

Copyrightuser.org was shortlisted at the AHRC 10th Anniversary Research in Film Awardand won the Best Film in the Year award in November 2015 for the animated film, The Adventure of the Girl with the Light Blue Hair.

*Copyrightuser.org provides a set of educational resources, tailored for students working on the Contemporary Media Regulation topic for the OCR G325 exam, but also relevant for all the other topics, including Media in the Online Age, We Media and Democracy and Postmodern Media. These resources will form the basis of the course on the 8th July 2016.
