BTEC Champions Group

===apologies for cross posting===

In response to sector-wide and institutional data that highlighted disparities in achievement and progression between BTEC entrants and their A-Level counterparts, NTU set up a ‘BTEC Champions Group’ as a university-wide initiative to identify, pilot and evaluate interventions aimed at understanding and addressing these disparities. It was also an institutional forum for creativity, sharing of ideas & best practice. However, as this is indeed a sector-wide challenge, we were also keen to engage with and learn from others and so, in 2016, hosted our first symposium to bring colleagues from across the sector, together.  Delegates expressed interest in staying in touch, so we set up an online group using Edmodo, which contains the presentations from both symposia and links to BTEC related literature and policy development. It’s not perfect but provides a user-friendly platform for discussion and sharing, which might be helpful for you and others to connect? There are already colleagues from a variety of HEIs and FECs on there, so for any LDHEN colleagues with an interest in BTEC transition and student success, you’d also be very welcome to sign up by:

1)       visiting www.edmodo.com

2)      signing in (or creating a quick login)

The content of the Edmodo group isn’t dictated by NTU by the way, it works as a shared-ownership space and was a first attempt (in the absence of anything else) at creating an online community of practice.

It would be great to keep in touch, share ideas and hear how things continue to develop at Liverpool!

Kindest regards,

Jodeine.
