Western Norway University of Applied Sciences – Welcome Talk, 9-10am in B216a, Thursday 26th October 2017
We have five academics visiting HSS from the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (formerly Sogn og Fjordane University College) tomorrow and Friday (26-27th October). The contingent will be composed of Lars Kyte, Ingrid Lindaas, Borgtor Boyum, Hellen Dahl and Tove Sandvoll Vee. Their teaching is largely around anatomy, physiology, pathology and pharmacology, and they are particularly interested in teaching innovations in relation to that. This is short notice but if you can it would be great if you would come to meet them – they’d love to talk about innovative teaching and possibilities of research collaboration. They have quite a full itinerary, but if you’d like to spend some time with them then come along to B216a tomorrow morning and we’ll be able to arrange a meeting for you later in the day or at least exchange email addresses.
During their visit they wish to learn more about our use of team-based learning, flipped classroom, blended learning and other kinds of student active learning methods. Particularly they would like to view active learning methods in action. Huge thanks to Clare Killingback, Swrajit Sarkar and Debbi Gale for allowing our visitors to come and see their fantastic teaching in action on Friday – I’m sure they’ll be impressed and take back to Norway a great impression of the excellent teaching that happens here at BU. Equally I’m sure they have a lot of ideas and expertise to share with us. Hope you can make it!
