Staff in the Centre for Excellence in Learning and its Fair Access Research (FAR) Project met to bid farewell to Dr. Wendelin Morrison and Karen Powell who will be coming to the end of their fixed term contract at the end of the month. In attendance was their line manager Dr Vanessa Heaslip who acknowledged the value of their creativity of approach and resourcefulness whilst working on the FAR project and how their valuable inputs would be greatly missed.
Wendelin and Karen have been undertaking and analysing research, creating good practice guidance, presentations, publications and a website which encompasses all the diverse work and outputs of the FAR project. FAR has inspired new ways of thinking about fair access at BU and how changes can be made with the adoption of a ‘whole institution approach’, a commitment to student engagement and practice-led research in order to meet the complex challenges facing widening participation research, policy and practice.
The project website, which mirrors the five themes of the project, will be live very shortly, watch this space for more details!
