This year’s HEA Surveys Conference was a great success with academics and professional support staff from a wide range of UK universities mixing to discuss experiences and to share top tips.
Survey discussions were not just limited to the Undergraduate NSS/DLHE and the Postgraduate PTES/PRES surveys of which most of us are familiar, but also incorporated the collection of feedback, assessment of learning, understanding of widening participation issues and many other very relevant issues to us at BU. Of particular value was the excellent and entertaining keynote speech by Nick Hillman (Director of the Higher Education Policy Institute).
From a personal perspective, I have to say that it was the best, and most useful, conference that I have attended in a long-time. Lots of interest regarding my own personal research into the ‘evaluation of student learning gain’, and if the success of a poster is based upon the number of photos being taken, then the poster we presented surpassed all expectations!
