The CEL team, led by Head of CEL Professor Gail Thomas and Dr Sue Eccles, CEL Research and Development lead, and supported by CEL members Dr Curie Scott (Programme Leader); Dr Jenny Hall (NMC lead); Professor Debbie Holley; Anne Quinney (Theme Leader for Creative Assessment and Feedback) as well as Academic Liaison Manager, librarian Emma Crowley and Learning Technologist Sue Callard successfully built upon our excellent PG Cert in Education Practice to offer BU staff and interested external candidates the opportunity to extend their knowledge, skills and understanding of pedagogy by undertaking a full Masters degree.
The team were commended for developing an innovative and flexible programme covering a rich variety of units to study; and for the level of support offered to existing PGCert students that will extend to the new programme. The new PG Diploma units, currently running as stand-alone CPD units are:
- Reflections of Leadership in HE
- Technology Enhanced Learning: Creativity in Design
- Innovative Assessment, Feedback and Feedforward
- Employability/Workbased learning: Implementing Best Practice
Success completion of three units will enable participants to complete Pedagogic Research Methods followed by a Pedagogic Innovation or Research Project
The strength of the new MA Education practice is its ability to offer participants a flexible route for study in a way that will suit their work commitments and career aspirations, studying part-time in a blended/ mixed method approach combining face-to-face and online learning. They can study at their own pace, taking one, two, or three units a year after completing the PGCert.
Interested staff can contact programme leader Dr Curie Scott (cscott@bournemouth.ac.uk) or ask any of the CEL team members.
The CEL team would like to thank students Laura Bunt-MacRury; Jonny Branney, Nivien Speith and Ambrose Seddon for their contribution in speaking to the panel.
Great News – well done to everyone involved!
