The second talk in part 2 of the Academic Integrity online webinar series is led by Dr Mary Davis on ‘Over-Represented Students in Academic Conduct Problems’ which considers issues of inclusivity with contract cheating. This is taking place on Wednesday 8th February 12-1pm, read her abstract below:

“Academic conduct problems do not occur equally across all student groups. Certain groups of students tend to be over-represented in referrals for academic misconduct, for example international postgraduate students or students with a disability. Join this session to find out why this is happening and what institutions and educators can do to reduce over-representation and make academic integrity inclusive and accessible to all students.”

Dr Mary Davis

Dr Mary Davis is academic integrity lead at Oxford Brookes University (UK). She has undertaken numerous research projects in academic integrity, including: the formative use of Turnitin as an educational tool; staff and student understandings of plagiarism; the development of international postgraduate students’ competence in source use (PhD study); the acceptability of re-use of formulaic language; proofreading; inclusion in academic integrity. She is currently leading a QAA-funded collaborative enhancement project across four UK universities designed to improve inclusion and accessibility in academic integrity.
