Looking for case studies ideas for your Advance HE Fellowship application? The lunchtime Education Enhancement workshops are a low stake investment in your professional development.
Wednesday 9th March 12:00-13:00. Education Enhancement Workshop.
Previous sessions on the Higher Education: Inclusion, Equity and Social Justice introduced the Equity Compass and in particular how approaches to learning can be participatory and build on the assets that our students bring to the learning process. Driven by the BAME retention and progression statistics alongside the BU Inclusivity Checklist (2021) we are tasked with “Identifying one or more actions that would make a real difference to student experience and attainment.” This session will turn the spotlight on decolonisation of the curriculum where it comes from and why it matters and Dr Gelareh Roushan will discuss inclusive practices that draw on specialist guest lecturers.

Thursday 10th March 12:00-13:00. Education Enhancement Workshop.
Education research and discipline-based signature pedagogies research
The rhetoric of discipline-based signature pedagogies tells us that our specific academic tribe and territory are different from the others. According to the informed discussion at the last drop-in workshop on this topic, it was clear that this is not the whole truth. Come and hear from colleagues about teaching in their discipline/field. The conversation might trigger a new envisioning of fusion possibilities.
In this session, the discussants will include Dr Rehan Zia from the Faculty of Media and Communications, and Dr Louise Oliver from the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences.
