The Groups tool in Brightspace allows you to create and manage groups of students within a unit. Groups can be used with release conditions to control the visibility of communications and content, and also to manage how students interact for collaborative activities and assessment. But did you know that group information can be bulk uploaded to Brightspace?
If you have a larger cohort with pre-existing groupings, then groups can be created and populated in bulk by collating a spreadsheet which can be uploaded to Brightspace by your Learning Technologist. Follow these steps in our recently updated guidance:
Creating groups via bulk upload for larger cohorts
Other options for creating groups
There are a range of options for creating groups and allocating students to them. Groups can also be created manually, by random allocation or by allowing students to pick which groups they join (self-enrol). See the Brightspace Staff Resources area for video guidance.
