The call for papers for the 12th Annual VWBPE conference is now open. This international conference, which takes place entirely in virtual worlds, is a wonderful experience, both to present at and to attend. You can present a ‘paper’ (and that can be quite widely interpreted in environments like these!), exhibit something you have created in a virtual world, or make an immersive world available for interaction, exploration and collaboration amongst conference participants. And you can do all this from the comfort of your own computer. Papers are published in proceedings in the Journal of Virtual Studies, too.
It won’t come as any surprise that I (Liz Falconer) will be there, so if any colleagues who are working in these environments with me at the moment (you know who you are!) or the many colleagues who are interested in the educational potential of virtual environments, would like to talk about putting in a presentation, exhibition or immersive world, please do let me know. I’m very happy to help with ideas and to discuss how you actually go about presenting at a conference in a virtual environment. If you’d just like to attend and would like a quick tutorial on how to do that, I’m also happy to help with that too. Please do take a look at the call – and be inspired!
