Come enjoy a variety of cakes for MacMillan Coffee Morning Monday, 29th October, 10am-12pm in the Staff Centre on Talbot Campus.
The event will showcase and demo the new VR Diabetes App, created in conjunction with BU School of Nursing and Daden Ltd. Using the Occulus Rift, and google cardboards, experience what it’s like to treat a patient with diabetes.
VR Diabetes is a student training app, which teaches students how to nurse patients who are suffering with an acute diabetic emergency in a local Emergency department. As the nurse, the student needs to decide the best course of treatment for the patient. Throughout the training exercise, students receive instant and continuous feedback on their performance, allowing them to learn in a safe and low-risk environment.
This case study brings to life real-world experiences through immersive, virtual reality and aims to complement traditional teaching and learning. To discuss possibilities available to you to incorporate VR into your teaching, please contact: Heidi Singleton at: hsingleton@bournemouth.ac.uk
