A workshop on Saturday 11th November will be held at BU as part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science.
This interactive session will explore how schools, universities and those supporting young people in care can work together to encourage and help more Care Leavers progress into Higher Education.
It will showcase recent research into the experiences of ‘looked after children’ and those supporting them, as they consider, enter and transition through university. This group of (potential) students often face more challenges when considering their future than many other young people, but our research suggests that with additional support and guidance, they can and do become successful graduates.
Through discussion and mini-research activities we will consider how we can work together to fully engage and support these young people into higher education.
The workshop runs on Saturday 11 November from 1-4pm at Bournemouth University, Talbot Campus
