Two months ago we reached capacity for the Postgraduate Certificate in Education Practice (PGCert) starting next year!! The PGCert enables those teaching and supporting learning in a post-compulsory education environment to develop all areas of academic practice, including teaching and learning support, assessment, curriculum development, educational research, learning technologies and academic leadership.
This year’s 40 strong cohort comprised academic and professional services staff from BU as well as external participants. The programme has excellent evaluations and we strive to improve it year on year. The unprecedented demand is also influenced by the KPI that 100% of academic staff gain recognition as a Higher Education Fellow by 2018.
**We are delighted to announce that in September 2017 we will have TWO PGCert cohorts **
The programme runs over one year, from mid-September 2017 to June 2018. We will keep the established pattern and run the taught sessions for both cohorts on Thursdays, 9-1pm at Talbot.
This is an ideal time to consider the PGCert as you plan for next year! The successful accreditation of the three Masters level units qualifies you for Higher Education Academy Fellowship. Interested in the PGCert? Take a look through the details, and click the ‘apply now’ button to the right.
I look forward to hearing from you!
By the way, if you are an experienced academic with 3+ years teaching experience, you can gain fellowship via a non-taught route called TeachBU instead. There are two writing retreats to develop your submissions for fellowships: Tuesday 4th July (10-1pm) and weds 12th July (1-4.30pm).
