I am Sandra Achim from Romania and I am currently studying an MSc Events Management at Bournemouth University. One of the best things about coming to study here are the festivals which are held in the area. There is something for everyone. Here are my top 5 festivals to attend during your studies at BU.
According to SUBU, the Summer Ball at Bournemouth University is officially the biggest and the best in the country. If you are a student here, you are not allowed to miss this fantastic festival organised by the Students’ Union at Bournemouth University. The transport to this festival is included in the ticket and there’s the usual fancy dress and drinks and the after party until 5 am, followed by the traditional survivor’s photo.
Bournemouth 7s has become the World’s Largest Sport & Music Festival and celebrated its 10th Anniversary in 2017! The festival won numerous awards and now attracts over 30,000 people and almost 400 sports teams to Bournemouth. It takes place over the late May Bank Holiday weekend. Bournemouth has established a formidable reputation amongst sportspeople and festival-goers alike because of this festival! If you enjoy sport and music, make sure you attend this event!
Bournemouth University’s Festival of Learning
Another thing that I like here at Bournemouth University are the University’s own festivals and the Festival of Learning is one of them. It brings learning to life with free events and activities for all ages. You will have the chance to get involved in research and expertise through an exciting programme of interactive workshops, talks, exhibitions, sports sessions, professional development opportunities and theatre events. With subjects ranging from sharks to scamming, there really is something for everyone. The festival is a celebration of learning and research at the University and is an opportunity for you as a student to share the knowledge and expertise with a wide and varied audience.
The Bournemouth Food & Drink Festival
If you are a food and drink lover, this festival is for you! The Bournemouth Food and Drink Festival is a 10 whole days of delight for foodies. Make sure you enjoy the good food and drink and the fabulous entertainment offered. During the festival, a demonstration kitchen is set up in Bournemouth Square and various challenges take place there. Don’t miss out on this delicious festival!
Poole is just next door to Bournemouth. The festival is Poole’s biggest and best family and live music festival. The festival includes music from the best local and tribute bands and is a wonderful experience for the attendees.
There always seems to be an event or festival happening in Bournemouth. Make sure you keep up to date with what’s happening in town! Come along with your friends, get inspired and learn something new.
