It was the summer of 2019 when I finally decided that I wanted to continue studying animation. After extensive research, I had finally decided that Bournemouth University was the best option for me and the next biggest step was my application.
I first approached BU by emailing AskBU, questioning them about the animation course. They answered all my queries and even went ahead and guided me to the University Fair in INDIA that some of the BU representatives were attending. The university fair was organized by SI-UK which has branches in most of the main cities of India (Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, Pune, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Coimbatore, and Jaipur).
I visited the fair organised in Bangalore and was able to gain a lot of knowledge about scholarships, courses, and other details about Bournemouth University. I was also given a Faculty of Media and Communication Prospectus book, considering my interest in Animation and an accommodation book that helped me go through and select my accommodation (Student Village) easily by comparing it to others.
After the fair, I contacted SI-UK and booked my free consultation. Since BU is a part of their university relations, my application to BU and any future consultation was free of charge.
I was provided with two options, either I could create an account on myHub and prepare my application there, or I could provide SI-UK with the details and they’ll do it all for me. I was impatient and had already created my account so I proceeded with the first one.
SI-UK also helped me with my visa application and guided me at each step to ensure that I don’t have any documentation issues. They also verified critical documents like affidavits to make sure there were no mistakes and that they abided all governmental policies.
Before 2019 batch, Masters courses for Animation and Digital Effects at NCCA required a showreel/portfolio along with the application to get admitted to the course but this was removed for 2019 and future batches to provide more opportunities to students from different fields of study.
In my personal opinion, I would highly recommend services like SI-UK and speaking to BU Representatives in person wherever possible. This helps in clearing up a lot of confusion that may arrive due to a significant amount of steps involved. But at the same time completing your application via myHub is also a good and easy solution.
Please note that due to the unprecedented situation, SI-UK is consulting via email and phone calls. For more information please visit their website or contact them directly.
