The New Forest

Bournemouth is a fantastic area for a student to live. There is a young yet calm vibe to the town, which I think helps new students to feel more comfortable meeting new people and living away from home. Whenever somebody asks me what my favourite thing is about Bournemouth, I struggle to answer because there are so many things that I love about living here. Bournemouth offers a range of amazing and fun things to do all year round such as nights out guaranteed to make memories at various bars and clubs such as The Old Fire Station, Cameo, Halo and the O2 Academy, which regularly has big names performing – such as Chase and Status who were here just last month. There is also ample opportunity to escape the city and visit one of Dorset’s other treasures, such as the Jurassic Coast, The New Forest or Brownsea Island, many of which the university’s student union, SUBU organise excursions to, in order to help our students explore the surrounding area and appreciate what an amazing places the south coast has to offer.

The Old Fire Station

With all of this right on your doorstep, Bournemouth is guaranteed to have something for you. I am so happy with my decision to study in Bournemouth and have become so attached to the town that I am unsure I want to go back home! When i do want to nip home, it’s only a 2 hour journey on the train, which makes it super simple. I have made some incredible memories here and I’m sure if you choose BU, you will too.
