Second year BU student, BSc Sports Development and Coaching Sciences

My exchange to Groningen has allowed me to interact with a variety of cultures and meet hundreds of new people whilst living in an exciting and lively building with over 300 students.  I’ve been able to learn a lot about the Dutch culture through an excellent student board. The Erasmus Student Network have provided me with the opportunity to go on trips to experience the culture first hand, such as a visit to a pancake boat and an ice skating venue.

Academically the course has given me a lot of freedom and I am able to focus on the subject areas that interest me the most. We have touched briefly on the internationalisation of sport and how sports are viewed in different countries around the world. At the moment I am working on a research project looking into the use of biomechanics in football. The teaching staff are very approachable and have a very laid back manner making for a relaxed atmosphere.
