CIPPM welcomes two new affiliate members

CIPPM is delighted to grow its interdisciplinary network by welcoming two new members to the Centre from the Department of Media Production at Bournemouth University.

In November 2024, CIPPM welcomed Dr Tom Davis and Dr Szilvia Ruszev as affiliate members.

Dr Tom Davis is a Associate Professor in Music and Audio Technology and teaches on the BA Music and Sound Production degree. Dr Davis is also a practicing artist working mainly in the realm of sound installation and live performance and has exhibited and performed throughout Europe and in the United States. His research examines the interface between music and technology amongst other areas.

Dr Davis holds a PhD from the Sonic Arts Research Centre, Belfast.

Dr Szilvia Ruszev is a film editor, media artist and researcher working across media.

Her research interest is situated in the fields of cinema and media studies, new materialism and digital studies intersecting various methodologies of a creative-critical praxis. Her research has a specific focus on the entanglement of networked technologies, capitalism and representation of social categories such as race, class and gender.

She is the Principal Investigator of the BRAID (Bridging Responsible AI Divides) funded ‘Shared Post-Human Imagination’ research project at Bournemouth University. The project investigates responsible AI in the context of media production. The research seeks to foster relationships among developers, users and policymakers to develop responsible AI practices.
