Hello everyone, I’m Talya. I’m currently doing my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology here at BU and today I am going to talk about my top 10 things to do in Bournemouth.
Bournemouth Beach
Bournemouth has an amazing 7-mile long beach which helps you get away from all your anxiety and worries and step away from your responsibilities. It’s always nice to have a short walk, go for jogging or cycling around the seaside!
The Pier
If you enjoy a breeze of the ocean and a nice scenery, The Pier is your destination!I love grabbing fish and chips from Harry Ramsden’s and enjoying my new home.
Sitting in the Lower Gardens
Especially since we’re welcoming summer these days, the Lower Gardens are amazing meeting spots to spend quality time with your friends while trying to catch the touch of the sun!
Shopping in the town centre
Shopping in Bournemouth has a relaxing effect. Not sure it’s because I’m coming from a hectic town or because of the weather but I really love shopping around town, visiting Happy Buddha, the Dolphin Shopping Centre and Winton High Street.
Sandbanks
Sandbanks has one of the best beaches in Dorset and it is always great to chill with your friends and have a barbecue. You can travel by bus for only £2 and spend the day there when it’s warmer.
Durdle Door
Bournemouth has hidden gems and Durdle Door is one of them! During weekends, when you’re thinking of where to visit, it is always a good option with its amazing scenery. it is only 30 minutes away from the town centre! Make sure you visit them at least once during spring or summer.
Night outs
As much as I’m not very keen for clubbing, I enjoy going for nights out in Bournemouth. Places like Sound Circus, Turtle Bay, Revolution and The Old Fire Station have a really fun and exciting atmosphere where you can enjoy your time without feeling any discomfort and unfamiliarity and they are reasonable in terms of their prices.
House parties with internationals
Bournemouth has a very diverse atmosphere where there 25% of the population consist of internationals. It is always nice to meet with friends at home parties and get to know their culture.
Eating out
True to its multicultural population, you can find food from different cultures in Bournemouth. Indian, Chinese, Turkish, Greek, Lebanese, and of course English food! It gives you the opportunity to go and discover their cultures. For me, Greek and Lebanese food is very similar to my taste in food and it’s always a good option to order take away when you had a very long day.
Indoor fun activities
As much as I love going out and doing outdoor activities, I sometimes choose to stay indoors. Oasis Fun Bournemouth is my ideal place to play bowling and mini golf. They have a really nice beach-themed activity centre that I really enjoy!
