With the new academic year in full swing, some of you might already be familiar with SUBU – the Students’ Union at Bournemouth University.  From the Trampolining Club to the Bacon Society, there’s certainly something for everyone when it comes to getting involved.

As well as hosting a whole range of clubs and societies, SUBU is working hard behind the scenes to make sure you get the best possible student experience.  Acting as your voice, SUBU representatives are making real changes on your behalf.  In the latest President’s Report, Chloe Schendel-Wilson and her team outlined some exciting new plans.  SUBU is committed to responding to student feedback and will be producing a Top 10 list of student concerns, while an action plan submitted to Time to Change will help to break down the stigma which surrounds mental health. There are plenty more exciting plans for 2014/15, so look out for further details!

The last academic year was a successful one for SUBU, with the trophy cabinet really filling up.  At the NUS Awards, SUBU Boat Club won the Best Student Sports Club, while SUBU Volunteering won Volunteer Service of the Year at the Student Volunteering Network Awards.  A Gold Award for the Green Impact Awards and SUBU’s The Old Fire Station winning best nightclub at Bournemouth Borough Council’s Best Bar None Awards added to a great year.

There are plenty of ways you can get involved with your Student Union, whether you join a club, volunteer or if you need some advice. Visit the SUBU site to find out more.
