Chloe Greenstreet

Chloe Greenstreet, a graduate of BU’s BSc Software Engineering course, exemplifies how passion, hard work and a willingness to seize opportunities can lead to exceptional early career success. Motivated by a desire to combine technology with environmental sustainability, Chloe chose BU because of its strong commitment to sustainability, excellent software engineering programme and supportive learning environment.

One of the most valuable aspects of her university experience was the emphasis on practical, real-world learning. Through industry simulations, case studies, networking events and professional engagement opportunities, Chloe developed skills that extended far beyond technical knowledge. The course taught her not only why technology works, but how to apply those skills to solve real business challenges, collaborate with industry professionals and build a strong professional portfolio.

Among the key skills she gained were software development, problem-solving, product design, teamwork, communication, networking, professional presentation, research, and the ability to work in industry-standard environments. She also developed expertise in software engineering methodologies, practical coding skills, and experience of applying technology to sustainability challenges. These skills proved invaluable in helping her transition confidently into the workplace.

A pivotal moment came during Bournemouth University’s industry-focused Computing in Business Week, where Chloe won a competition sponsored by JPMorgan. This achievement led to networking opportunities and ultimately helped her secure a year-long paid placement as an Intern Software Engineer with JPMorgan between 2023 and 2024. During her placement, she gained hands-on experience developing software in Java while working with professional engineering practices and collaborative development approaches.

Following her placement, Chloe completed her degree with First Class Honours and transformed her sustainability-focused dissertation into research opportunities. With encouragement from university staff, her work led to conference presentations, including presenting a paper in Iceland in 2026. She has since returned to JPMorgan as a Graduate Software Engineer, where she continues to learn new technologies and contribute to projects that support both business goals and sustainability ambitions.

Chloe Greenstreet’s journey shows that university is about much more than earning a degree. It’s an opportunity to develop valuable skills, build professional networks and discover new possibilities. Every project, competition and industry connection can help open doors to future success
