You only have to hear the word ‘Bar’ to know it’s going to be a pretty cool place with music, entertainment, and of course, alcohol. But there’s some qualities about the university’s very own Dylan’s Bar that make it particularly special…

The Food

Featuring some of your favourite comfort food, from pizza to loaded nachos, Dylan’s menu is fit for all, from the health conscious of us to those of us who love nothing more than a good post-lecture carb up. Ranging from super salads, paninis to veggie sausages and crepes, you’re sure to find something to your fancy, all within your student budget. Even better, you don’t usually have to wait long before you can tuck into your food, and you get plenty on your plate!Dylan's Bar Mwal

Quiz Nights

Every Monday from 8pm the bar hosts the quiz with a modern twist, offering students the chance to test their knowledge by teaming up to take part in an interactive smartphone quiz with their friends. The atmosphere gets quite intense as everyone unleashes their competitive streak in hope of grabbing the winning prize.

Student Friendly Prices

Dylan’s has a variety of offers on throughout the week, including burger and pizza meal deals, 2 for 1 weekends and the infamous ‘Skint Wednesdays’ where it’s just £3.25 for burger and chips, nachos or a chicken and bacon salad. What more can you ask for? Oh, and if you’re looking for a cheap drink or two, Dylan’s is also the place to be with their ‘Happy Hour’ boasting great drinks offers daily from 6-8pm. Yes, I said daily!Dylan's BarKaraoke

If you fancy yourself as the next Beyoncé or Ed Sheeran (we can only dream) then why not begin your career with a sing along or two at the Thursday night Karaoke? It’s great if you fancy a bit of practice in front of an audience, or just want to blast out your favourite tune to get everyone in the mood. FYI singers get 2 for 1 cocktails for the rest of the evening if you still need persuading.

The general chilled vibe

One of my favourite places to go to hang out with friends while on Talbot Campus has to be Dylan’s, the relaxed atmosphere, top tunes, and comfy seating make it a great place to chill out after a lecture and catch up with course-mates. It’s not your typical noisy bar, but much rather a place to wind down and put the stresses of the day behind you.

So that’s Dylan’s in a nut-shell. A friendly atmosphere with top food and awesome entertainment. If you’re a student at BU, why not try it out with friend’s in-between lectures? Or if you’re a prospective student heading to one of BU’s open days, be sure to check it out, although don’t get too comfortable, you’ve got to remember to check the library out too.
