Top 5 things askBU Enquiries have been asked this week…
Late applications
Although the UCAS applications deadline was 15 January, here at BU we are still happy to consider late applications, for most of our courses. As soon as a course is full, our website will be updated to show this. All of our courses have their own dedicated page, so try and keep an eye on www.bournemouth.ac.uk/courses just in case! All applications need to be submitted through www.ucas.com as soon as possible.
Accommodation
We guarantee Halls of Residence or BU-managed accommodation for all first year undergraduate students starting in 2013, if you accept BU as your first choice. You can apply for accommodation online at www.bournemouth.ac.uk/accommodation as soon as your offer goes unconditional eg, once you have all your exam results back and you have met everything required. We know that for many students this won’t be until results day in August but please don’t worry, you have until 5pm the day after A level results day to apply!
Invite days/ visiting BU
Many of our courses run special days intended for applicants to come to campus, meet the team, get a more in depth feel for the course and occasionally can include interviews or activities. These tend to run from January through to March, and if you are invited to attend, details will be in your offer letter along with how to register.
If you cannot make the days listed, please just pop us an email, pick up the phone or contact us on www.Facebook.com/BU2013 and we can see if we can find something more suitable. We may have other days coming up that just might not be published yet- so it’s always worth asking!
General entry requirements
This year at BU, many of our courses have a degree of flexibility in the entry requirements. You may have noticed that some courses have published a range of UCAS tariff points that we are looking for. For example this may say ‘280-320 UCAS tariff points from 2 A levels or equivalent’ or something similar! This may sound a little confusing, but as we are happy to consider so many qualifications we may also be able to consider AS Levels, BTEC subsidiary diplomas or Extended Project Qualifications towards the total. We love chatting through things so if you aren’t sure if you meet the requirements, give us a buzz and we will happily go over everything with you in person.
Offer letters
Offer letters are starting to be sent out from our admissions teams… but are you a little confused?! Is there something you aren’t sure about? The person who sent the letter will be personally handling your application, and will be happy to discuss anything if you need them to. We’re nice, and we like to chat so don’t be frightened to get in touch- their contact details are provided for a reason!
