Moving to Bournemouth for university is one of the best decisions I have ever made. Not only am I studying a course that I love and find incredibly interesting, but I also get to live in one of the nicest places in the country (in my opinion anyway!)
Bournemouth has so much to offer and so many things to experience, including the beautiful beaches, the nightlife, the gardens and the events on year round in the town.
Living in town with the beach practically on your doorstep is an incredible feeling. Miles of golden sandy beaches stretch in both directions from Bournemouth – beaches which have been voted 4th best in Europe in the Daily Mail! Even on a dull day the scenes will take your breath away; it is definitely somewhere you will find yourself spending a lot of your free time.
The nightlife in the town is always buzzing – every night of the week there is at least one club venue offering cheap drinks and lots of music. If clubbing isn’t your scene there are plenty of pubs around the town to go for a drink with your friends in a more relaxed environment.
Bournemouth Gardens is a lovely place to visit and hosts the Bournemouth balloon. It’s a great way to see Bournemouth and the surrounding areas from above ground level! Bournemouth gardens is a lovely walk down towards the sea and pier from town, and you are more than likely to see grey squirrels running around in the trees and grass. The gardens also host many events throughout the year, including an ice rink at Christmas time!
The Christmas Market is another thing not to miss out on – the stalls selling homemade and quirky items and unique gift ideas for friends and family. There is even a German style bar and food stalls.
As well as all the amazing scenery and places to visit, Bournemouth has a good range of shops, supermarkets and restaurants. The public transport network in Bournemouth is very good making all of what the town has to offer easily accessible.
Living in Bournemouth is amazing and I have no regrets about moving here. Bournemouth has everything you would need it to offer and more, making this a great place for both education and your social life!

I will be moving to BU in September to start the Adult Nursing program, I was just wondering what you opted for in terms of accommodation? I have lots of options before me but so stuck on what to choose! what would you recommend for a first year student nurse?

I chose the halls of residence for the first year, I got my first choice of Chesil House and it meant I could have a 50 week tenancy so I haven’t had to move out during my summer placement 🙂
I know some on my class opted for hospital Accomodation and it was good, but I felt choosing halls for the first year helped me to meet people other than just those on my course!
