The Media School is launching a new Master’s programme this September, MA Media and Communication. This will be the first Master’s in the Media School to offer an optional extended industry placement. Students can spend 30 weeks working within the media or communications industry as part of their study. The School’s placement office, with over twenty years of experience of placing students in industry, is confident that it can support MA Media and Communication students in their search for an appropriate internship experience. Last academic year, the School had 400 placement opportunities available for 280 students. MA Media and Communication welcomes applicants for a Sept 14 or January 15 start.
Another new MA at Bournemouth University is Advertising. This course is for determined and driven individuals who are ambitious about their career within the Advertising industry. Whether you have recently graduated with a good degree in an Advertising related subject, or you are a Communications professional looking to further your career, this challenging MA degree provides the knowledge and tools necessary to become an Advertising specialist. During this course you will also complete a London based ‘Advertising Boot camp’ which will be the penultimate task in the programme. Lastly, we introduce the third new course into the internationally renowned Media School, the MA International Political Communication. This is an academically focused Master’s degree aimed at graduates who wish to pursue a career path in political communication or political journalism. Our graduates will seek to work as political strategists, campaign consultants, communication advisors, speech writers, senior political editors or specialist correspondents. The course is designed specifically to provide an advanced understanding of the issues and debates around the subject of political communication in the 21st century. Students who graduate from the MA International Political Communication degree will be equipped with the critical and analytical skills to pursue research within the field of political communication and related disciplines and possess appropriate academically and professionally relevant transferable skills to pursue a professional career in communication within the context of politics.
