In March, the School of Tourism will be exhibiting at the Hotel and Catering show being held at the BIC on the 5th – 6th March, to showcase its CPD (Continuing Professional Development) programme.
Keith Hayman, BU’s Head of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in the School of Tourism, outlines how the course works:
“Everything about our CPD programme for employers is flexible, from course content to delivery times. Working closely with Hall & Woodhouse, the Dorset-based brewing and pub company ,we came up with a bespoke programme of 6 units delivered over eighteen months. The units include HE Study Skills; Hospitality Context; Services Marketing; People and Performance; E-Marketing and Financial Reporting. The first cohort received its CHE (Certificate of Higher Education) in 2012 and will progress to a Foundation Degree in Business and Hospitality Management in 2013” explains Keith.
Anthony Woodhouse , MD Hall & Woodhouse, shares his experience of working with the School of Tourism CPD Programme:
“From our perspective, the central pillar to H & W’s long term strategy is that we have to be a great place to work. It’s very simple. Learning and development sits at the very heart of that,”
“One of the additional benefits of the CPD programme is group cohesion. As a company we understand no-one can know everything about the business. Having our team, drawn from all parts of the business on this course means that when they come across a challenge, they have a peer group to help them find the solution.”
Could bespoke CPD give your organisation the edge over your competitors?
