For Caterina Boschi, a passion for travel has always been about more than visiting new places. It has been about embracing new cultures, building connections, and creating opportunities. Originally from Italy, Caterina’s decision to move abroad independently and live in countries including Australia and the Netherlands inspired her ambition to build a career in the global travel industry.

To turn that ambition into reality, she chose to study MSc Tourism Marketing Management at Bournemouth University. The course stood out because of its unique blend of tourism, business strategy, and digital marketing, as well as the opportunity to undertake a placement year. Modules such as E-Tourism, Digital Marketing, and Tourism Marketing Innovation provided practical, industry-relevant skills that she continues to use every day in her career.

Beyond the classroom, Caterina thrived in BU’s international environment. Working alongside students from around the world helped her develop the confidence to communicate across cultures, while team projects strengthened her collaboration and problem-solving abilities. She also gained valuable experience through student activities and employment alongside her studies, developing the independence, adaptability, and organisational skills that employers value highly. Her commitment to personal and professional development was recognised with the Business School Postgraduate Employability Award.

Following graduation in 2023, Caterina began her career in the luxury travel sector before progressing into increasingly strategic marketing roles. Today, she is a Marketing Executive at Ocean Beds, part of Ocean Holidays, where she leads B2B marketing initiatives, manages LinkedIn strategy, develops trade communications, supports PR and events, and helps grow brand awareness within the global travel trade.

Reflecting on her journey, Caterina believes her degree provided a strong foundation of both knowledge and employability skills, enabling her to navigate challenges, seize opportunities, and build a successful career in a competitive international industry.
