Bruna Tolomeli (Brazil)

I am Bruna Tolomeli from Brazil studying a Master’s in Post Production Editing here at BU since September 2017. Bournemouth is known for its beach, which is ranked as one of the best beaches in the UK, however the town has plenty of other leisure activities to offer.

The Cinema

Let’s start with my favourite one: the cinema! The Odeon is in the Town Centre and is one of my favourite places in Bournemouth. I am a film student after all! What is wonderful about The Odeon is that they have a ‘limitless card’ available. By paying monthly, you have access to all films!

MacGuffin Project

For a special leisure activity with your friends, try the MacGuffin Project Escape Room. It is basically a computer game where you and your friends are in a different reality and have to work together to complete missions given to you in order to escape from a room. It is a very exciting and fun experience!

Golf

For those who enjoy golf, Bournemouth has a few golf courses, one of them being at Meyrick Park. It is a good option for those who have been practicing for a while and would like to keep on practicing. If you would like to play golf for fun every now and then, there’s also the Mini Golf situated in the Lower Gardens in the town centre. It’s a really nice option in Spring when it is sunny and the gardens are filled with flowers.

Museums

Fancy something more cultural? Bournemouth has a few interesting museums to explore. The Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum is located on top of a hill overlooking the sea. It was the home of Annie and Merton Russell-Cotes, who travelled the world collecting beautiful objects and British art. Nowadays, you can visit their house and appreciate the amazing collection they put together throughout the years.

For those interested in the mysteries of science, Bournemouth Natural Science Society Museum is the perfect place to go. It has collections regarding archaeology, geography, insects, and so much more! Throughout the whole year they host interesting lectures, new exhibitions and social activities.

There is an exciting life to be explored beyond the beach in Bournemouth. Take some time away from the obvious attractions and dive into new adventures!
