Hello everyone! My name is Osher, and I am a 2nd year Computer Animation Technical Arts student.

As an international student in the United Kingdom, it was both exciting and challenging to begin my journey. From the very beginning, my goal was not just to attain a degree but to create an experience that would shape my future. As I reflect on my time so far at the university, I am grateful for the opportunities that have come my way, especially the Academic Excellence Scholarship. This scholarship not only eased the financial burden on my family and myself but also driven me forward on my academic path.

Picture this: I’m an international student, boldly venturing into the unknown, armed with nothing but a suitcase and a head full of dreams. Then, like a movie plot twist, the Academic Excellence Scholarship appears. Cue the confetti! This scholarship was a lifeline. As an international student, navigating the financial maze of studying abroad can be a tad nerve-wracking. The scholarship turned those nerves into calmness.

Now let’s talk about how my enthusiasm for computer animation led me to choose BU and major in the technical arts. BU isn’t just a university, it’s an engaging environment dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge in the Visual Effects and Animation fields, and it is one of the best in the world. You see, I’ve always had a soft spot for animated movies and jaw-dropping special effects. So, naturally, I followed my heart into BU’s realm of animation excellence.

Beyond the academic appeal, Bournemouth as a city played an important role in my decision-making process. The young and vibrant atmosphere, the allure of its beautiful beaches (because who doesn’t love a sea-view study break?), and the endless list of activities the city has to offer ensured me that my life will be equally fulfilling outside of the uni.

While I was mainly concentrating on my studies, I have also been exploring other aspects of university life. My involvement with the university’s tennis team has been one of the most unforgettable experiences I’ve had. I was honoured to wear the BU sports uniform and represent the university. Being a member of a team, competing, and showcasing my school pride on the tennis court was a dream come true.

I also became a member of the Animation Society, which allowed me to meet people from other backgrounds who have a similar enthusiasm for animation. My confidence increased as a result of participating in these extracurricular activities, which also assisted me in developing critical social skills. Through them, I improved my abilities and felt a part of the BU community.
