In this blog, our advisers in the Future Students Enquiry Team share answers to the questions they’re currently being asked about by undergraduate students joining us/thinking about joining us this September. We hope you find it useful!
When will I receive a decision on my application?
This is a super busy time for Admissions and they are processing your applications as quickly as possible. Please ensure you check your emails for any replies or requests from our admissions team as well as regularly logging in to your UCAS or myHub accounts to track your progress.
We adhere to the decision time frames as outlined in the UCAS Key Dates. For September 2022 entry, this means if you applied before 26 January 2022 deadline, you will hear a response from UCAS by 19 May 2022. For applications received after the deadline, the latest you’ll receive a decision will be 14 July 2022.
If you applied before the deadline, you will need to respond to your offers by 9 June 2022.
I’ve already accepted my BU offer, what do I need to do next?
We’ll be in touch with registration instructions and information about your course nearer the start of the academic year. There are some things you can do to begin preparing, such as applying for Student Finance and your accommodation.
We’ve put together a really useful guide about your next steps. If you’d like to find out what to expect when joining university, and what you can look forward to, see what some of our current students have to say.
What happens if I don’t meet the conditions of my offer?
If you don’t meet the criteria of your original offer, we may still offer you a place. Check out our guide to what happens when you get your results. If you don’t do as well as you’d hoped for or you achieve better results than you expected, visit our Clearing pages to explore your options.
I would like to request a change of course, deferral to September 2023 or withdraw my application. How can I do this?
You will need to submit this request via our online form. Once you’ve submitted your request, our Admissions Team will process any changes as soon as possible.
I can’t log in to my myHub account, how can I fix this?
myHub is BU’s online portal for anyone who has applied to the university. As an applicant, it is important that you access and log into myHub regularly for information and communication about your application. The log-in details to your myHub account are sent to you via email soon after your application has been received. It is usually an s followed by 7 numbers e.g. s1234567. Please search your email inbox and junk/spam folders for the myHub login information.
If you cannot remember your log-in details, contact our IT Service Desk on +44 (0)1202 965515 or via the IT Services website. You will need to provide your 7-digit student ID which can be found in your offer letter.
Can I still submit an application to study at BU this September?
If you haven’t used all five of your UCAS choices (or have only just decided to apply), you can still submit an application via UCAS if the course you are interested in is still open (it will say on the course page if applications are closed). We need to prioritise all applications received before the 26 January 2022 UCAS deadline.
You also have other options for applying now to join us this September:
- UCAS Extra – if you have already used all five of your choices and you have not received an offer, or have changed your mind, you can add one further choice through UCAS Extra.
- Clearing – if you aren’t holding an offer as of 5 July 2022, you will be automatically entered into Clearing and you can start looking for courses which are the perfect match for you. If you have only just decided to apply to university for 2022 then Clearing is a great opportunity to see what courses are available to you for September, read our Clearing guide to find out more.
Where can I find out more about the undergraduate courses BU offers?
You can find all of the information about our courses including course fees, start dates, entry requirements, programme specification and the application process on our course pages. It’s a good place to start to see which course is perfect for you.
Head to our website to find out more about university and what to expect from university life.
The best way to visit BU and get a feel for student life, the facilities we have and chat to staff and current students would be by booking one of our Open Days. The next available date is Saturday 9 July 2022.
If you can’t make an Open Day, please feel free to come along and complete a self-guided tour. You can download the tour information for both our Talbot and Lansdowne campuses along with directions to both sites.
We operate an open campus policy Monday-Friday during normal working hours, so you can explore BU at your own pace.
