What is Psychology about?
Psychology is about developing a critical, high level understanding of the mind and behaviour through research-inspired teaching. You will encounter a range of subjects such as social, biological, developmental and cognitive psychology, providing you with the knowledge and understanding to start a career in this field and beyond.
Are there any particular highlights about this course?
BU has a range of collaborations with the mental health sector, criminal justice system, educational system, industrial partners and local charitable trusts, all of which bring practical elements of psychology directly into the course. Moreover, at BU we have a diverse approach to research methods, meaning you will be able to explore a wide range of quantitative and qualitative approaches to psychological inquiry.
Who is MSc Psychology for?
MSc Psychology is for anyone with an undergraduate degree in another subject who wants to start their journey in psychology, or for overseas students who want to gain a UK psychology qualification.
How will I benefit from the course?
The course provides you with a thorough grounding in the discipline of psychology as well as a range of transferable and sought-after research skills and methods. This course is accredited by the British Psychological Society. On successful completion of the course you are eligible for Graduate Basis for Chartership, the first step towards becoming a Chartered Psychologist.
What could I do after completing the course?
On completing the course you could continue your journey in psychology with further study, leading to psychological careers in Clinical Psychology, Educational Psychology, Forensic Psychology, and Sport Psychology, among other options. The course also provides a suitable basis to enter employment in the field of psychology, and research and strategic work for a variety of industries.
