Whenever someone plans to study abroad the first thing that comes to the mind is the cost. A lot of people have the desire to study abroad but the idea of an expensive education holds them back. As, I come from India. I am going to tell you about the amazing funding options available for Indian students to study in the UK. So, let’s get started.

Commonwealth scholarships and fellowships

This is for students from Commonwealth countries who can make a significant contribution to their country after the completion of a higher education programme in the UK. It is meant for candidates wishing to pursue six months of clinical training, and a one year taught Master’s course, or doctoral degree of up to three years in duration. The application period for the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan is generally between July/August and the first week of October every year.

Hornby-The Hornby Educational Trust

Offers scholarships for students who want to pursue a one year full-time Master’s degree in an English language teaching related subject in the UK.

The Oxford and Cambridge society of India scholarship

The Oxford and Cambridge Society of India Scholarships pay part of the costs towards your course, the award is for an outstanding Indian students of not more than 30 years of age wishing to pursue an undergraduate, postgraduate or research degree in any subject at the universities of Cambridge or Oxford. The application period for the Oxford and Cambridge Society of India Scholarships is generally between 1st February and 30th April every year.

Felix

This Scholarship is offered to deserving underprivileged students from India and certain other developing countries wishing to pursue their postgraduate education at the University of Oxford, the University of Reading, or the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), part of the University of London in the UK. The application deadline for the Felix Scholarships lies generally in the month of January every year.

Inlaks  Scholarships

It provides an opportunity for young Indian students with exceptional talent in any field to broaden their vision through a university course or by pursuing specific programmes like research, training or professional improvement. Applications for the scholarships are accepted between 10th January and 15th April every year.

Scotland’s saltire- It offers a scholarship towards the tuition fees of a one-year full time undergraduate, masters or PhD programme at any of Scotland’s higher education institutions. The scholarships prioritise students from Canada, China, India and the USA wishing to pursue their studies in sectors like creative industries, life sciences, technology, financial services and renewable and clean energy. The closing date for applications for the scholarships is generally 30th May each year.

In addition to this there are many famous universities that have their own scholarships for international students. So, it is always good to go to their websites and find out what they offer.
